PhD student Ingrid Cangelosi, attending the PhD Program for Integrated Company Management (cycle 18) at LIUC Università Cattaneo, participated at the workshop “Right to Enjoy the Benefits of Science and Freedom of Research” held on 28 September 2017 at the University of Turin.
The topic presented deals with “Patent pool, right to health and access to medicines. Perspectives of comparative law in different countries”.
The paper examines the discussed issue of access to medicines in countries with different incomes.
The specific concern of the disparity is due to different granting regimes of intellectual property. TRIPS Agreement introduced some standards to manage disputes globally but current challenge of law is to manage new licensing strategies to guarantee IP ownership and medicines affordable for all.
