Biographical Notes
Emanuela completed, in 2010, the PhD program in Integrated Business Management at LIUC - Cattaneo University. From 2011 to 2013 she was a Research Fellow and she is currently a fixed-term researcher at the School of Industrial Engineering (ING-IND/35 Economic and Management Engineering). She is also a member of the Core Faculty of LIUC Business School, carrying out research and training activities in healthcare.
Since 2020, Emanuela is a member of the Healthcare Datascience LAB - HD LAB, Emergencies, Technologies and Beyond at LIUC- Università Cattaneo, and since 2023 she is a member of the LIUC Research Ethics Committee.
Since 2019, she has been collaborating with the Scientific Societies SIFO-FARE (Italian Society of Hospital Pharmacy and Federation of Regional Associations of Health Care Bursars and Providers), as coordinator of the permanent table for the evaluation of purchasing processes, dealing with the development of quality indicators within tender processes in different Italian regions. Emanuela actively collaborated with FADOI - Federation of Associations of Hospital Managers of Internal Medicine and SICE – Italian Society for Endoscopic Surgery, for research projects and publications, concerning managerial topics and health technology assessment evaluations.
Emanuela is a member of the Performance Evaluation Board of ASST Valtellina e Alto Lario hospital.
Scientific Areas of Interest
The main areas of scientific interest are related to: a) assessment of emerging and/or consolidated health technologies b) mapping, analysis, and reengineering of processes in the health context; c) performance management and measurement; with particular regard to organizational performance, as well as management control, budgeting and reporting.
With regard to the evaluation aspects, the activities focus on the implementation of evaluation techniques referring to early assessment and assessment, as well as to the definition of the organizational and social acceptability of any healthcare technologies, modifying the current delivery of care.
As far as purely management aspects are concerned, the scientific interest is focused on development of research and training activities related to process mapping technique, activity-based costing approach and business process reengineering, as well as structured comparison and benchmarking activities among peers and across sectors within the healthcare setting.
Additional scientific area is related to performance measurement and measurement, with a focus on monitoring and evaluation of the performance cycle within the context of public and private healthcare organizations.
Academic CV
Emanuela is Assistant Professor in the School of Industrial Engineering and Management at Carlo Cattaneo – LIUC University, for the Courses “Technology Assessment and Data Science in Healthcare” and “Performance management in Healthcare”. She is involved in PhD teaching activities, in the course devoted to the Empirical research in Managerial Accounting and Performance Management.
Emanuela has permanent collaborations with University of Pavia, for teaching activities related to performance management and measurement, accounting, management and control, business process reengineering and activity-based costing approaches.
Emanuela also provides educational activities devoted to professionals working in the public and private healthcare sector and lifescience world, for advanced training, specialization courses and Master courses designed by LIUC Business School.
Emanuela is track organizer, presenter and Chairman for the Healthcare track of Both “IFKAD Conference” and “RSA AIIG”.
In 2023, Emanuela operates as Guest Editor for the Special Issue titled “Health Technology Assessment and Public Health: Relation, Potentialities and Evidence Generation”, for the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health.
She is Referee for several International Peer Review Journals, such as Clinico Economics and Outcome Research; International Journal of Technology Assessment in Healthcare; IEEE: Value In Health; Management Decision; R&D Management.
