Biographical Notes

Full Professor of Logistics and Supply Chain Management at LIUC - Cattaneo University. He graduated in Management Engineering at the Polytechnic of Milan and for 30 years he has carried out an intense scientific research activity on many topics related to the world of logistics, supply chain and transport. Since 2011 he has been the scientific director of the Tecniche Nuove magazine Logistica and author of more than 280 publications in journals or conference proceedings. For his training and research activities, he has been awarded Assologistica's prestigious ‘Il Logistico dell'anno’ award on several occasions. He has been researching and teaching in logistics and supply chain for over 25 years and has published extensively in journals, conferences and he wrote 8 books. His researches on the fast moving consumer goods supply chain have been cited widely. He has supervised numerous projects in the area of production, logistics and transport systems for leading companies in various industrial sectors. As the Director of Logistics & Supply Chain Management Research Group at LIUC University, he directly managed over 30 international and national projects. He has also worked on industrial policy for logistics in Italy, appearing among the drafters of the latest National Logistics Plan. He is the owner of the "Logistica" discussion group on Linked-in, with +30.000 followers.

Scientific Areas of Interest

The areas of interest mainly concern the redesigning of the supply chain and logistics-production processes, the revision of logistics-distribution networks also through the use of advanced simulation and optimisation tools and techniques. Through the Osservatorio sull'Immobiliare Logistico (OSIL) and the Osservatorio sull'Automazione dei Magazzini (OSAM), it deals with all topics concerning logistics: from the design aspects of systems for the storage and handling of goods to the scouting of the most advanced technologies for process automation. He has always been involved in Supply Chain Planning and in particular in advanced models for Demand Forecasting and stock management, including the integration of Sales & Operations Planning processes.

From 2005 to 2020, Director of the Centre on Logistics and Supply Chain at LIUC Business School. From 2004 to 2016, Associate Professor of Industrial Mechanical Systems ING-IND 17 at the School of Industrial Engineering of LIUC Cattaneo University. From 1995 to 2004, University Researcher of Industrial Mechanical Systems ING-IND 17 at the 2nd Faculty of Engineering of Politecnico di Milano ‘Logistics and Production Systems’ area. 1994 to 1996, PhD student in Quality Engineering with subject at the University of Florence. 1994, Degree in Industrial Technology Engineering with a focus on economics and organisation at the Politecnico di Milano.
