LIUC – Cattaneo University is pleased to present a new session of Lunch Talks, an informal series of discussions where students and faculty come together to explore pressing global topics.
The next event will take place on Thursday, April 9, 2026, from 12:45 PM to 2:00 PM in Room C110. On this occasion, Professor Alessandro Goglio will lead a discussion titled:
War, Oil and the Economy
The session will examine the economic implications of the recent conflict in the Middle East, focusing both on its direct effects and on the indirect consequences stemming from rising oil and gas prices.
For organizational purposes, and to ensure refreshments (sandwiches, drinks, coffee and/or tea) are available for all participants, attendees are kindly requested to complete the registration form by Friday, April 1:
About the Speaker
Alessandro Goglio teaches Public Economics at LIUC Università Cattaneo, School of Economics and Management. Previously at the Paris-based Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), he advised governments on long-term reform policies and programs, including with a focus on social and labour market reforms. He holds a PhD from the Geneva Graduate Institute of International Studies and a Laurea from Bocconi University.
About Lunch Talks
This series of informal meetings is organized by professors of Economics: Rodolfo Helg, Filippo Pavesi, Massimo Scotti and Andrea Venegoni. The topics are introduced and analysed from a conceptual perspective to better understand the tools that economic and social disciplines—together with engineering and technological ones—provide to help us interpret and address them. Naturally, solving any problem requires creativity and imagination, qualities that distinguish LIUC students! For this reason, Lunch Talks are intended as open and informal discussions, where we work together to outline possible answers by combining efforts, minds, and energy.
