The study titled “Building green logistics: identifying and evaluating the key sustainable factor for an eco-warehouse”, conducted by Martina Baglio, Martina Farioli, and Fabrizio Dallari (i-LOG, Center for Logistics and Supply Chain Management at LIUC – Università Cattaneo), addresses the issue of sustainability in the logistics real estate sector. The research aims to map the current sustainable features implemented in warehouses and proposes an innovative rating model for their assessment.
Using the Delphi methodology with a panel of industry experts, the study identifies and validates 22 Key Sustainability Factors (KSFs). The model was then applied to a sample of 35 warehouses in Italy, revealing the importance attributed to different green practices.
The study highlights the limitations of existing environmental certifications, which are often not tailored to the specific characteristics of logistics facilities, and provides a practical tool to support more informed sustainability investments aligned with evolving market expectations.
