Located in the Northern region of the Black Sea, the city of Mykolaiv had almost half a million inhabitants before the outbreak of the conflict. Initially on the conflict front line in the south of Ukraine, Mykolaiv is still subject to frequent attacks.
The post-conflict reconstruction phase will demand considerable effort from the Ukrainian government, which has asked the UNECE (United Nations Economic Commission for Europe) for support with its reconstruction plans.
In response, the UNECE launched the #UN4UkrainianCities project and reached out to international actors specializing in integrated design and economic planning. This led to the development of guidelines for the Master Plan for the reconstruction and urban regeneration of the city of Mykolaiv.
During the event, the international team will present the main results of their work on the creation of a new ‘concept master plan’ for Mykolaiv and other pilot projects.
The event is jointly organized by the Centre of Excellence on sustainable finance for infrastructure and smart cities (ExSUF), established by UNECE and LIUC – Università Cattaneo, in collaboration with One Works Foundation.
The event will also be accessible remotely, with live interpretation in Italian and English for online participants.
