Digital Twin

Digital Twin

The interest of the academic and professional world in the topic of Digital Twins is continuously growing. Digital Twins can bring substantial improvements in multiple production environments and enable real-time data analysis and scenario planning. However, the implementation of this technology within production systems is not simple. In the study titled ‘Challenges and countermeasures for digital twin implementation in manufacturing plants: A Delphi study,’ published in the International Journal of Production Economics and conducted by a research team from the School of Industrial Engineering at LIUC, composed of Nicolò Saporiti (Postdoctoral Researcher), Violetta Giada Cannas (Researcher), Rossella Pozzi (Researcher), and Tommaso Rossi (Full Professor), this important theme is addressed.

This article explores and evaluates both the main challenges that can arise in the process of implementing a Digital Twin within a manufacturing plant and possible countermeasures. The study highlights a possible prioritization of interventions and serves as a guide in defining the relative importance of the identified challenges.
