Hydrogen represents one of the most interesting energy sources to discuss in the context of ecological transition, but it is evident that the discussion around it presents numerous challenges that need to be addressed by the stakeholders involved, such as:
- Scarcity of “pure” raw materials and infrastructure
- The need to create new business models to leverage and/or reconfigure value chains and inter-firm relationships
These technological and business challenges, if properly addressed, can contribute to creating value for the stakeholders involved, such as through new revenue streams, operational efficiency, emissions reduction, and the emergence of projects with positive multidimensional impacts (e.g., society, environment, and economy).
Objective
The Hydrogen Lab (H2Lab) aims to scientifically analyze, using an economic management approach, the hydrogen value chain in order to identify its benefits and challenges for different actors in the industry.
As a third-party research organization, H2Lab aims to promote the realization and synergy of opportunities in the hydrogen and transportation sector, including:
- Hydrogen producers and infrastructure companies engaged in research, development, construction, and management of infrastructure and technologies
- Companies that could utilize this energy carrier
- Demand-side institutions interested in new applications and policy makers
Results
The research results are shared through reports, articles published in international scientific journals, national press, and presented at international conferences and/or symposiums organized within the context of sustainable and circular innovation.
The research is currently ongoing.
